Four Counties Inter Club Challenge The first ever Four Counties Inter Club Challenge was held at the club recently. The brainchild of Head Coach, Geoff Barrie, Bewdley (Worcs) welcomed players from Shifnal(Shropshire) Chipping Camden(Glos) and Halesowen(Staffs). Each club fielded four U14 age group boys, none of whom play regular competition tennis. The round robin singles format gave all the players valuable match experience, and left them asking for more such events. The home club was represented by George Carroll, Joe Fish, Pierce Sloan and Ryan Giles. Bewdley head coach Geoff Barrie said “there were 24 matches played altogether, with sportsmanlike conduct displayed by all the boys. All in all a great day’s tennis.” Shifnal were the victors with 11 wins, and returned home with the cup. The next round will be on November 26 th when the clubs will bring 2 boys and 2 girls, again U14, and play a mixed doubles tournament. There will be stiff competition to take home the cup!

The nearest new member Steve and Lindsay, from a few doors away and we have a Country Member due to join later this week from New Zealand!! We also had lots of people sign up for courses, ABC, Cardio and the summer Junior coaching courses, 30 to 40 more membership form were taken home on the day and they could be returned in the next 2 weeks, so we hope the committee have already booked their places on any courses. I think the car park attendants were working at a more relaxed pace, sun loungers and book reading under the shade of the trees at the high school - that was the report back to the frantic club-site crew. ************************** Junior Social (aged 11 - 18) A chance to play for fun, competitvly, in box leagues and tournaments and play the coach. For further information, call Geoff Barrie 07838 236691. ************************** Term Time Tennis We have just completed a second term's course with 28 players, half of whom returned after the Summer term. At the tournament held during the last session we had Wyre Forest Press Dept present, and Jo Morris from County LTA also came along. He told me the following week that he was hugely impressed both by the numbers but also the standard. Jan Adams, the mayor, dropped in for a cuppa and was most impressed, as did Dale Evans from WFDC who has given us support from the beginning, especially with generously printing our fliers. We are delighted that as a result of these courses we have welcomed 23 new members to the club since they began.
Next course is for the group who started in September, and commences January 23rd 10-12.
Another will be run in April for new participants.Watch this space!
A huge thanks from Jenny,Dawn Jill and Jo to Geoff and
