Bewdley Tennis Club
Welcome to Bewdley Tennis Club, where tennis is enjoyable, fun and sometimes a bit competitive !!!
Bewdley boasts one of the oldest tennis clubs in the county.
After the First World War a number of tennis enthusiasts used to play on a private court at Netherton House - now the site of the Bewdley High School's playing fields. Numbers outgrew that venue and Bewdley Tennis Club was founded in 1924.
The Club celebrated its 90th birthday in 2014 and has seven courts (3 clay and 4 tarmac), all of which are floodlit. This makes Bewdley one of the larger clubs in Worcestershire: a far cry from the original two grass courts in 1924.
None of this would have been possible without a strong tradition of voluntary work from members, which still continues today. We welcome you to Bewdley Tennis Club and we hope that you enjoy your tennis and become an active member of the Club. Today, Bewdley is a Clubmark accredited organisation, a forward looking club constantly looking for ways to improve the facilities for its members and the wider community. To this end the club has completed major works re-siting and updating the watering system, and completely redressed the clay courts, rather than the annual top dressing, to improve drainage.
